Matthias Garff
Carnival of Animals
Solo Show
Matthias Garff presents a world of fantasy and creativity in which nature and the human imagination merge in a unique way.
The title “Carnival of the Animals” refers to the lively and dynamic nature of the exhibition. Garff’s sculptures bring the world of birds to life and immerse us in a world characterized by color, form and movement. It is a celebration of creativity and life that reminds us to celebrate the beauty and diversity of nature.
The sculptures, created from scavenged objects, show the artist’s incredible gift for observation and thereby stimulate the viewer’s imagination.

Exhibiting Artist
Matthias Garff
Garff’s work deals with the depiction of animals and our relationship to nature. He builds his sculptures from pieces of found objects and everyday items. This unexpected materiality is humorous, comprehensible and of brittle beauty.
Garff’s works are represented in renowned collections – including that of the German Bundestag.
In 2019, he developed numerous animal figures for the new children’s world of the Jewish Museum Berlin. His works have been shown in group and solo exhibitions, including at the Städtische Galerie Offenburg, the Museum der Bildenden Künste Leipzig and the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart.
Matthias Garff was born in Solothurn, Switzerland, in 1986. He studied at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. He lives and works in Leipzig
