The best place to start is by trusting your instincts. Buy what genuinely moves you, sparks your curiosity, or makes you want to live with it. Every art collection begins with a single artwork.

Visit galleries and exhibitions, attend art fairs, and take every opportunity to speak with gallerists, artists, and curators. Don't be afraid to ask questions. There are no silly questions, and a good gallery will be happy to guide you through the process of buying your first artwork and building a collection with confidence.

Collecting art is a journey rather than a destination. Every acquisition reflects a moment in your life, your interests, and your evolving perspective. There is no "wrong" first purchase. In fact, you can't buy your second artwork without buying your first.

We also encourage collectors to learn about the artists behind the works they love. Understanding an artist's practice, inspirations, and career can deepen your appreciation and help you make more informed collecting decisions. To make this easier, EXOgallery has launched a podcast series "ARTIST ON ART" both in English and in German featuring conversations with our artists, available on Spotify.

A gallery artist is represented by the gallery through a long-term partnership. At EXOgallery, we actively invest in developing our represented artists' careers by organising exhibitions, presenting their work at art fairs, introducing them to museums and public institutions, and building relationships with collectors, curators, and other art professionals. Representation is an ongoing commitment to supporting an artist's professional growth.

A guest artist, on the other hand, collaborates with the gallery on a project or exhibition basis. Guest artists are often included in curated group exhibitions, and at EXOgallery we offer a curated selection of artworks by our guest artists while introducing their practice to collectors. Although we are pleased to connect collectors with outstanding guest artists, these collaborations are typically shorter-term and do not involve the same level of career development and representation as our gallery artists.

This is a valid question, and one that many first-time collectors ask. They naturally want to know whether an artwork is worth its price.

Working with a reputable gallery such as EXOgallery provides a level of confidence. We invest considerable time in discovering, researching, and supporting artists who, in turn, have often dedicated years to developing their practice, refining their techniques, and investigating materials. While no artwork can come with guarantees, buying through a trusted gallery offers reassurance that the work has been carefully selected and professionally presented.

There are certainly objective qualities that contribute to a strong artwork, such as composition, craftsmanship, the quality of materials, and the care taken in its creation. Ultimately, however, the most important consideration is whether the artwork resonates with you. The works that people cherish most are often those that continue to evoke curiosity, emotion, or reflection long after they have been brought home.

We are happy to arrange a shipping to your chosen location. In order to get a shipping price assessment we need your exact address.

Within Germany we can arrange for a professional art transport. Outside of Germany, depending on the size of artworks we will either ship it with our trusted art shippers or via a package. Please note, that outside of EU the buyer is responsible for duties and custom clearance.
