Valo, WitteMann | Resonance
November 8 – December 21, 2024
WitteMann’s art delves into the viewer’s emotions through the sensory qualities of materials and colour. The artist employs recycled or building materials, as well as newspaper, transforming them into multi-sensational compositions that challenge perceptions of value and beauty.
Marina WitteMann’s works uses color to reflect emotional and physical states, engaging newspapers as a metaphor for media’s influence on our worldviews. By painting with captivating, nearly seductive hues, she creates objects of desire that are irresistible and alluring. Her artworks draw parallels to propaganda, offering easily understood myths that entice and ensnare.
Marina’s installations, composed of painted newspaper on a metal grid, underscore the transformative power of the written word. As viewers step inside, they are enveloped in complete silence, feeling the constraints of propaganda that subtly imprisons the mind.
Marina WitteMann (born 1984 in Moscow, Russia) currently lives and works in Germany. She graduated in Fine Arts from the Russian Academy of Art in Moscow, and The Open University, The Open College of the Arts, UK.
